Restaurant food photos look dark and yellow because restaurant lighting is dim and warm, and a phone camera often cannot fully correct for it. This free tool removes the yellow color cast and brightens the shadows with one fixed correction applied to your own photo. It does not change the food, the plate or the background, and your photo never leaves your device.

What does this tool change?

The yellow cast

It finds the plates, napkins and highlights that should be neutral and pulls the yellow out of them. Warm light that already looks natural is left alone.

The brightness

It lifts underexposed shadows toward a middle exposure without clipping the highlights, so a dark photo is easier to read.

Nothing else

The same correction applies to every pixel, so nothing is added, removed or moved. The dish you photographed is the dish in the result.

Dark and yellow photo questions, answered

Why do my restaurant food photos look dark and yellow?

Restaurant lighting is usually dim and warm, and phone cameras often cannot fully correct for it. Warm bulbs add a yellow cast and low light leaves the shadows underexposed. Shooting by a window with no overhead light and no flash prevents most of it, and this tool fixes what is already taken.

How do I fix a yellow food photo for free?

Drop the photo into this page. It removes the yellow cast and brightens the shadows, and you can download the result. It runs in your browser, so the photo is not uploaded anywhere, and it has no signup or watermark.

Does the fix change the food?

No. It applies one color and brightness correction to the whole photo, so it cannot add, remove or move anything on the plate. If you also want a cleaner background and better framing, that is what MenuPhotoLab's Natural Touch-Up does, starting from your own photo.

Will the fixed photo pass DoorDash or Uber Eats?

Fixing the light does not change the photo's size or shape, which are the other common reasons for a rejection. Run it through the free Photo Rejection Checker, and use the Delivery Photo Resizer to set the size for each app.
